The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill

The Exxon Valdez oil spill wasn’t quite as bad as the oil spill we are having now in the Gulf of Mexico but it was still pretty bad especially since the Captain was drunk! The Exxon Valdez Oil Spill happened in the state of Alaska in the body of Prince William Sound.

Prince William Sound

A lot of animals died in this oil spill. Dead sea otters washed up on the shore covered in oil along with other animals like fish, cranes and more. This was a depressing moment for Alaska and the rest of the country. They had no idea how they would clean up all this oil, but they finally did after three years of cleaning every day. If the stupid captain, Joseph Hazelwood, never left his 3rd mate alone to steer the ship by himself, none of this would have ever happened… stupid captain. He should have been arrested but was found not guilty of the most serious charges, LUCKILY. I would have sentenced him to 10 years in prison! Lucky for him all he got was 10,000 hours of communty service. Oh wait, let’s not forget about the fact he had to pay $50,000 to the state of Alaska! Not enough, in my opinion.

Dead Birds from Oil Spill

So let this be a lesson to you boat drivers, don’t be like the captain of this vessel and don’t drink and then operate a boat like he did. And don’t forget: never leave your 3rd mate in the operating room alone to steer an oil tanker carrying 53,000,000 gallons of crude oil!

Don't Drink and Drive - Not Even a Boat!
